For 60-year-old men with recurrent glans phimosis or narrowing of the external opening of the foreskin and difficulty in urination, circumcision is required, while no special treatment is needed in other cases.
Circumcision is the most effective means of treating phimosis in clinical practice, and is usually not based on age. It is recommended to do it as early as possible if there are indications for surgery and no contraindications for surgery, so 60-year-old men can also have this type of surgery. However, for 60-year-old men, who are only suffering from phimosis and have no other discomfort, they can choose not to undergo surgery at this time.
For a small number of 60-year-old men, who have frequent episodes of glans phimosis or tight foreskin which makes the urethra narrow and difficult to urinate, it is recommended that surgery be performed to remove the excess foreskin to alleviate the symptoms.
