What is the position of the esophagus from the incisors

The esophagus can be divided into three segments from the incisors: the cervical esophagus, the thoracic esophagus, and the esophagogastric junction. 1. Cervical esophagus: It is connected to the lower pharynx and to the sternal notch plane. It is anteriorly adjacent to the trachea, laterally adjacent to the cervical vascular sheath, and posteriorly attached to the cervical spine. The endoscopic examination is performed in the range of 15 to 20 centimeters from the incisors. 2. Thoracic esophagus: Starting at the entrance of the thorax, the upper part is surrounded by the trachea, the aortic arch, and the branches of the large veins in vivo, and posteriorly adjacent to the thoracic vertebrae, and is approximately 20 cm to 30 cm from the incisors by endoscopy. 3. Esophagogastric junction: the upper end begins at the level of the inferior pulmonary vein, adjacent to the pericardium, and travels downward to the stomach, which is the last section of the esophagus, the esophagogastric junction.
