Do people with bronchitis cough a lot?

Some patients with bronchitis may experience frequent coughing under specific circumstances, usually when acute bronchitis is present with inflammatory secretions exuding from the airway mucosa and when congestion and edema are relatively obvious and cause frequent coughing in the throat. Chronic bronchitis also has symptoms similar to those of acute bronchitis during the acute phase, with frequent coughing still occurring. In some patients, this may be accompanied by a hyper-reactive state of the airways, such as contraction and spasm of the tracheal smooth muscle, which can aggravate the symptoms of coughing and increase the frequency of coughing, but when the inflammation of bronchitis is fully controlled, coughing will not occur as frequently during the remission period of chronic bronchitis.
