Are diabetics more likely to develop cancer than the general population?

The impact of diabetes on normal life and rest and the various complications are enough to make people suffer, but now it is found that diabetics are more prone to cancer. It turns out that the culprit of all this is “high blood sugar”, which is known to be the cause of various diabetes complications, and when the blood sugar level is high, the DNA of cells will suffer more damage, which is difficult to repair, thus increasing the risk of cancer. In addition, type 2 diabetics are unable to effectively bring glucose into the cells mainly due to defective insulin function, which stimulates the pancreas to produce more and more insulin and is likely to produce hyperinsulinemia. A normal amount of insulin is the key to maintaining blood glucose levels, but after all, insulin is a hormone, and when in excess, it can stimulate cell growth and lead to cancer. Current medical technology still cannot solve the problem of cancer treatment, but we can treat type 2 diabetes and reduce the risk of cancer. Traditional medical treatments for diabetes are no longer sufficient for most patients with type 2 diabetes caused by obesity. Today, surgical treatment of diabetes is gradually becoming the trend. Gastric bypass surgery effectively solves the problem that internal medicine taking hypoglycemic drugs can only rely on lifelong medication to stabilize blood glucose. Patients with diabetes treated by surgery are basically able to stop taking their medication and stay in the normal blood glucose range for a long time in daily situations.
