Whether a tooth is crooked can be treated individually orthodontically is determined mainly by the location of the teeth distribution in the mouth. If the teeth are closely aligned and the space around the crooked teeth is small, it is generally not possible to correct them individually. However, if the space around the crooked teeth is large, after individual orthodontic treatment may also get relatively good treatment effect, so it is recommended that patients go to the Department of Dentistry after the professional orthodontist’s assessment of the teeth and oral occlusion relationship, and then decide whether to correct. If there is a gap between one crooked tooth and other teeth, or if, after examination, treatment space exists around the occurring tooth, it can usually be adjusted by using brackets alone. For patients with more severe tooth crookedness, dental implants may also be considered to replace the original teeth. In addition, if the crooked teeth are redundant, patients can also go to the hospital to have them extracted and later be fitted with braces to facilitate the alignment of the other teeth. There is a fixed distribution of teeth in the oral cavity and the alignment of one tooth may cause the distribution of surrounding teeth to be affected. If the tissue space around a crooked tooth is tight, a comprehensive row of teeth usually needs to be adjusted. Moreover, orthodontic treatment is a long-term process and patients need to maintain an active treatment mindset and strictly follow the instructions so as not to compromise the treatment results.
