Numbness in the hands and feet should be seen in neurology. Most patients with numbness in the hands and feet are likely to be caused by neurological disorders. It is usually seen in cerebrovascular diseases, including cerebral hemorrhage and cerebral infarction, mainly in the basal ganglia region. These symptoms may also occur in the case of lacunar cerebral infarction or cerebral infarction in the radiocoronal region as well as in the case of hemorrhage. If the patient has a cerebral hemorrhage, it usually starts during activity and is commonly caused by cerebral aneurysms, cerebral arteriovenous malformations, and hypertension. The main etiologies in patients with cerebral infarction include cerebral atherosclerosis, hyperlipidemia, diabetes mellitus, and hyperhomocysteinemia, etc. If the patient is suffering from numbness in the limbs, it may be a lesion of the brainstem, and in severe cases, motor dysfunction of the limbs may occur, as well as urinary and bowel disorders, and some patients may even experience dizziness, difficulty in swallowing and choking on drinking water, and cranial CT or MRI can make a clear diagnosis.
