The period from the opening of the cervix to the delivery of the fetus is called the second stage of labor, or the period of fetal delivery. The length of the second stage of labor is related to individual differences and whether or not epidural anesthesia is used for pain relief. The length of the second stage of labor varies from individual to individual. Without epidural anesthesia, the maximum duration of the second stage of labor should not exceed 3 hours for primigravid women and 2 hours for transient women. If epidural anesthesia is used for analgesia, the duration of the second stage of labor can be extended by 1 hour on the basis of this, i.e., the maximum duration of the second stage of labor should not exceed 4 hours for primigravid women and 3 hours for transient women. In the second stage of labor, under the guidance of the doctor, reasonable and effective exertion, feet stirrups on the delivery bed, both hands hold the handles of the delivery bed, deep inhalation during contraction and then hold the breath, and then like defecation-like downward force, increase abdominal pressure. During the intervals between contractions, the woman breathes freely and relaxes her whole body. The mother breathes freely and relaxes the whole body muscles, and then does the same breath-holding action during contraction to accelerate the progress of labor.
