How to do an adrenal ultrasound

Ultrasound of the adrenal glands is done in this way: Generally, no special preparation is needed, let the patient lie on the examination bed, when scanning the right adrenal gland, you can let the patient take the left side lying position, then put the probe on the right side lumbar, and look for the image of the right kidney, then scan a structure shaped like a triangle in the upper upper pole of the right kidney, which is the right adrenal gland. To scan the left adrenal gland, the patient can be placed in the right lateral position, and then the image of the left kidney can be scanned on the left lumbar region, and a structure shaped like a half-moon can be observed on the inner upper pole of the left kidney. When observing the bilateral adrenal glands, it is important to observe whether the envelope of the adrenal glands is smooth, whether the morphology of the bilateral adrenal glands is normal in size, and whether the parenchymal echogenicity of the adrenal glands is uniform. If the bilateral adrenal glands are not displayed clearly enough, the patient can be asked to breathe deeply, which will help to display the image of the adrenal glands.
