Pumpkin and sweet potatoes are not recommended for patients with high blood sugar. This is because these foods can raise blood sugar. Pumpkin and sweet potato belong to starchy food, easy to produce sugar, elevated blood sugar, so for poor blood sugar control and combined with diabetes complications patients are not recommended to eat such food. Diabetic patients should be on a strict diabetic diet, controlling the intake of staple foods (i.e. carbohydrates) and eating more fresh vegetables with less oil and salt. Avoid fruits and other foods that are high in starch and sugar. It is recommended that patients with abnormal blood glucose should have regular blood glucose monitoring and endocrinology follow-up.
