The cause of tarsal sinus syndrome is 80% due to a history of ankle sprain, while the remaining 20% is related to ankle deformity, gouty arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and other diseases. The main manifestations are pain in the tarsal sinus region of the affected limb (below the anterior aspect of the outer ankle), aggravated by posterior rotation of the foot or inversion, and pain below the anterior aspect of the outer ankle joint when walking, especially when walking on uneven surfaces. Main signs: 1. Significant pressure pain in the tarsal sinus area (below the anterior aspect of the outer ankle). 2. The pain is aggravated by active and passive rotation of the ankle joint and by internal rotation. 3. Negative ankle drawer test. Auxiliary examinations: 1. Plain X-rays usually have no abnormal findings. 2.MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) of the ankle joint shows ligament rupture in the tarsal sinus area and soft tissue edema. 3.Diagnostic closure: local injection of 2% lidocaine 2ML in the tarsal sinus area, if the pain disappears, the diagnosis can be confirmed. Treatment: 1.50-70% of patients can get good results after regular conservative treatment. Conservative treatment includes: ultrasonic physiotherapy, closed treatment, oral non-steroidal drugs and other treatments. 2, by the regular conservative treatment effect is not good patients need surgery. The main methods of surgery are: incision and arthroscopic cleaning of the tarsal sinus, of which arthroscopic surgery is one of the most advanced techniques for the treatment of tarsal sinus syndrome in China at this stage, which can not only clean the diseased tissue of the tarsal sinus, but also explore whether there are other ligament injuries in the tarsal sinus area, which is less invasive and has good clinical effect.
