The -1SD refers to 1 standard deviation of height below standard height, and the clinical definition is that -2SD below standard height is diagnosed as dwarfism. If the -1SD indicates that the child’s height is slightly short, in this case, parents need to pay active attention to the child’s height, bone age related tests, to clarify whether the child’s actual height is late growth, or is indeed short.
