Diagnostic criteria for obesity

In 1997, the WHO has clearly declared obesity as a disease, the following indicators to assess obesity: 1, standard weight (ideal weight, IBW) Broca method: standard weight (kg) = [height (cm) – 100], male × 0.9, female × 0.85. Simple calculation method: standard weight (kg) = height (cm) – 105 (cm) ) – 105 (cm) General measured weight is less than 10% of the standard weight, for wasting; measured weight in the standard weight ± 10% or less, for normal, measured weight more than 10% of the standard weight and less than 20% of the person, for overweight, measured weight more than 20% of the standard weight for obese. 2, the most simple and most commonly used indicator to assess obesity is the body mass index (BMI). BMI = body weight (kg) / (height) 2 (m2). Foreign diagnostic standards are: 25 for the upper limit of normal, 25 to 30 for overweight, & ge; 30 for obese. International life science society “ Chinese obesity working group ”, in 240,000 people data cross-sectional analysis and more than 70,000 people on the basis of prospective analysis in 2001 put forward “ Chinese adult body mass index classification recommendations ”, that the Chinese BMI in 18.5 ~ 23.9 for the appropriate range, 24.0 ~ 27.9 for Overweight, 28.0 or more is obese. Because the body mass index is calculated according to the relationship between weight and height, for thicker bones and more developed muscle can not be based on this criterion for diagnosis, must refer to other testing methods. Such as body fat percentage (body fat percentage measurement (F%): F% = (4.570/D-4.142) w 100% . D is the body density, for adult male D = 1.0913-0.0016 w X female D = 1.097-0.0013 w X X = right scapular angle subcutaneous wrinkle thickness (mm) + right upper arm triceps skin wrinkle thickness (mm), adult male F% = (15%, more than 25% is obese, female F% = 22%, more than 30% is obese), waist and hip circumference ratio, skin fold thickness determination, etc. 3, waist circumference (WC) and waist to hip circumference ratio (WHR): waist circumference is an important indicator to measure abdominal obesity, “Chinese adult overweight and obesity prevention and control guidelines” the waist circumference measurement method is stipulated as follows: let the subject stand upright, feet apart 30 ~ 40 cm, with a soft ruler without elasticity, the smallest scale of 1mm, placed in the right axillary line crotch bone upper edge and the 12th rib lower edge of the midpoint of the line (usually WHO regulations in the Asia-Pacific region, the waist circumference of men ≥ 90 cm (2 feet 7 inches), women waist circumference ≥ 80 cm (2 feet 4 inches) that is obese. Hip circumference refers to the maximum circumference of the hip, waist to hip circumference ratio (WHR) male > 0.9, female > 0.85 that is defined as central obesity also known as visceral obesity. In addition, the height of the abdomen when lying down exceeds the height of the sternum can also be diagnosed as obese. 4, skin fold thickness measurement: commonly used measurement site for triceps brachii and shoulder angle under the muscle site, the sum of the two is greater than 51mm (male), 70mm (female) can be considered obese.
