HPV-infected people who are pregnant can choose natural delivery, but if the presence of warts lesions are huge you have to choose cesarean section. A pregnant woman’s immunity is lowered during pregnancy, when she may become infected with the HPV virus, also known as human papillomavirus, which can cause lesions on the vulva, vagina, and cervix in women. There is no evidence to indicate whether cesarean delivery prevents the development of respiratory papillomas in the fetus, so HPV infection during pregnancy is not an indication for cesarean delivery. If the lesions are confined to the vulva only, spontaneous delivery is an option. If the lesions are widely distributed in the vulva, vagina, cervix, etc., a normal delivery is highly susceptible to hemorrhage due to injury to the soft birth canal, or if the lesions block the soft birth canal, then a cesarean section should be chosen. It is advisable to consult your obstetrician for details about the delivery method for HPV-infected patients.
