How to treat venous thrombosis in the legs

The treatment of calf vein thrombosis varies according to the severity and location of the disease. If the disease is mild, medication can be given, and if it is serious, surgery or intervention can be performed to remove the embolism. 1.Medication: including anticoagulant drugs, thrombolytic drugs and symptomatic drugs. Anticoagulation is the basic treatment, the purpose is to prevent further extension of thrombus. Superficial vein thrombosis is also called superficial phlebitis, and anticoagulation is an optional option. Deep vein thrombosis must be treated with anticoagulation. Anticoagulants include heparin, low molecular heparin, warfarin and newer anticoagulants. Thrombolytic therapy is the treatment of choice in both deep vein thrombosis and superficial phlebitis. It is usually applied when a new deep vein thrombosis is formed. The effect is not exact and it is important to be aware of the side effects of thrombolytic therapy, namely the possibility of bleeding. Thrombolytic drugs include urokinase, fibrinolytic enzyme, tissue-type fibrinogen activator (t-PA), etc.; regardless of deep vein thrombosis or superficial phlebitis, if severe swelling occurs, active drugs to improve venous circulation can be given for treatment. 2, surgical treatment: that is, incision and embolization, surgery has certain risks, and the chance of recurrence is relatively high, it has been less clinically applied, and is not as a regular optional program. In the occurrence of femoral cyanosis or femoral leukomalacia, it is often necessary to consider incision and embolization to improve the arterial secondary perfusion deficiency limb facing the possibility of ischemic necrosis. 3.Interventional treatment: that is, endovascular treatment, including catheter thrombolytic therapy, catheter aspiration or crushing treatment, which is a newly developed treatment method in recent years and can be clinically applied optionally. 4.General treatment: bed rest, reduce activities, prohibit massage of the affected limb; at the same time, lower limb elevation, making the lower limb higher than the heart plane, improve venous return, reduce edema and pain. Elastic stockings are generally used for thrombosis for more than 2 weeks, and the condition enters into chronic stage. 5.Etiology treatment: After the occurrence of deep vein thrombosis, the cause of thrombosis should be analyzed to prevent recurrence. For example, if the thrombosis occurs after prolonged sitting, avoid prolonged sitting. If it is caused by too little water, try to avoid water shortage in the future. Avoid trauma if it is caused by injury, and maintain lifelong anticoagulation if it is due to thrombophilia. One type is caused by compression of the left common iliac vein by the right iliac artery on its ventral side. Endovenous stenting of the iliac vein may be considered to improve/release the compression after the thrombus has been removed, dissolved, or stabilized. The treatment of calf vein thrombosis varies according to the acute and chronic course of the disease, and a treatment plan should be formulated for each case. Generally speaking, hot compresses are one of the methods to relieve pain and discomfort, and anticoagulation therapy is an option.
