When chest pain occurs after lying down, but disappears after standing up, it is usually caused by problems in the soft tissues around the chest, such as thoracic costochondritis, fenestritis, or local injury caused by crush injury or contusion to the soft tissues near the chest. Usually, chest pain can occur during normal times, such as when doing chest expansion exercises or coughing hard or breathing deeply, or when carrying heavy objects. However, it is generally recommended to go to the hospital for a chest X-ray to rule out any abnormalities in the bones near the chest, and if there are no abnormalities only in the soft tissues, the symptoms can be relieved by applying topical ointment and taking some anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving drugs.
