Infant sleep problems countermeasures

Newborn babies always need to sleep as long as they can, and the biological clock in their bodies determines the type of sleep they get. Babies’ schedules may not match those of the adults, and it takes time for them to learn about the new world they have arrived in. It takes longer for parents to get their infants to sleep the same way as the rest of the family. The average sleep time for newborns is about 16 hours, and few newborns can sleep through the night without waking up. 2 month olds sleep for 28 minutes, while 9 month olds sleep for only 16 minutes, and 44% and 78% of them can sleep through the night or wake up and go back to sleep on their own like adults, respectively. An infant’s sleep preparation An infant has a need for sleep, but the nutrition he receives, the stimulus signals, and the parenting style all have an impact on his sleep habits. 1. Comfortable environment. Parents can keep the baby’s cot in their own room for a few weeks or even months after birth, but after that the baby needs his or her own little place. A baby’s crib can be a reliable little comfort zone for many months. Make the baby’s crib lively and interesting: colorful bed rails, flower quilts, colorful decorations and some cloth toys. 2. Proper temperature. Parents are worried about whether the baby is too cold or too hot, in general, the baby’s requirements for the thickness of clothing and adults are roughly the same, so if you feel comfortable, so does he. 3. Soft clothes. The clothes babies wear to bed should be safe and comfortable (the fabric should never be flammable). You can use a number of methods to help your infant develop healthy sleep habits. 1. Make infants aware of the difference between daytime and black. Some parents are so afraid of waking their babies up during the day that they walk on tiptoe and talk softly. This is unnecessary and not smart because babies are not woken up at all and they can sleep soundly in any environment. So don’t darken the room and don’t worry about the sound. Babies can soon adapt to the movement around them and begin to realize the difference between day and night. 2. Train your infant to fall asleep on his or her own. Don’t let your baby get into the habit of having to be held and put to sleep. The first time a parent puts a baby in a crib and puts him to sleep on his own, he may cry a lot, but insisting on this is good for both you and the baby. Here’s what we recommend: Hold the baby, feed him, change his diaper, and coax him to sleep, then wrap him in a small blanket and place him on his side in his crib (lying on his side with something padded on the back can help prevent vomiting). If the baby is willing, you can also let his head or back against the railing, which helps the baby to feel safe. 3. Entertain your child only during the day. Although a newborn baby always seems to be sleeping, he will gradually spend more time awake. Play with him during the day whenever possible, and don’t use the night as a time to play. If the infant wakes up, you want to put him back to sleep as soon as possible. The goal is to keep the infant’s waking hours during the day. 4. Bedtime preparation. Put your infant to bed at the same time each night, preferably as soon as he or she is sleepy and not very tired. Do not change the toys and blankets in the crib, the familiar environment will make the baby feel at ease. 5, the evening “night snack” problem. Feed your baby once a day between 10:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m., depending on your sleeping habits. Be sure to give your baby another feeding before you go to bed, even though you gave him a feeding a short time ago. This is because the infant begins a full night’s sleep with the last feeding of the night. As much as possible, let your infant get used to eating more of this nighttime feeding as a regular meal. If he falls asleep, don’t be afraid to wake him up. Don’t feed him again after the feeding and let the infant wake up on his own. What you want to do is to extend the infant’s nighttime sleep as long as possible. 6. Wake the baby up during the day. Wake your baby up at least every 4 hours during the day to feed him, so that he can get most of the nutrients his body needs during the day, so it is easier for him to give up breastfeeding at night. If parents follow the steps above, it won’t take long for their infants to sleep through the night naturally. If your infant’s situation is different, you can wait until your child is 2 months old, weighs 10-12 pounds and is growing steadily, before helping your child learn to sleep through the night. 1.Stick to the nighttime snack of 10-12 pm, it is the starting point of the infant’s nighttime sleep. 2.Choose the right time to train your infant. You can start your training when the infant has been sleeping better or you have more time, usually a weekend training can be a big success. 3.After giving the baby a night snack, try to postpone the next feeding. When the baby wakes up in the night and cries for milk, you can change his diaper, talk or sing, then wrap him up and put him back in his crib without feeding him (it is better for the father to do these things for the baby, which can avoid the baby’s association). If the baby still cries according to the above method, you can give him some milk and most likely be able to put him to sleep until the light of day. If the above methods do not work, you can try again after two weeks, may be a little persistent and suddenly effective. 4. Consolidate the results. You have to stick to the above practices for a period of time: after giving your baby a night feed, try to delay the next feeding.
