Is the medication effective when HPV positive?

HPV-positive treatment with medication is not very effective, because there is no particularly effective anti-HPV infection drugs. HPV-positive clinical tests require further HPV-DNA quantification, examination of HPV subtypes, etc. to clarify the current condition. If the HPV-DNA load significantly exceeds the reference value range, treatment with antiviral drugs is recommended. Patients with condyloma acuminatum can use 80%~90% trichloroacetic acid to rub the local area as prescribed by the doctor, and flat warts and common warts can be treated with 0.05%~0.1% retinoic acid ointment and 5% imiquimod ointment externally. Other treatments include cryotherapy, laser therapy and other physical treatments. Overall, patients with HPV-positive presenting infections are mainly treated with antiviral drugs, but there are no particularly effective antiviral drugs. After treatment, the HPV-DNA load can be within the upper reference limit, but there is still a possibility of recurrence in the future. Follow-up treatment is recommended.
