Premature contractions can be categorized as “palpitations (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic)” in traditional Chinese medicine, and there is no specific acupuncture point documented for the treatment of premature contractions. However, acupuncture points such as Neiguan, Shenmen, and Qiemen can alleviate the symptoms associated with premature contractions. Neiguan is located in the anterior region of the forearm, 2 inches above the transverse stripe on the distal side of the palm of the wrist, between the tendon of the palmaris longus and the tendon of the flexor carpi radialis. It can calm the heart and tranquilize the mind, and calm spasms. It is mainly used for treating heart pain, chest tightness, tachycardia or bradycardia, stroke, hemiplegia, vertigo and migraine. Shenmen is located in the anterior region of the wrist, the ulnar end of the distal transverse stripe on the palmar side of the wrist, and the radial edge of the ulnar flexor carpi radialis tendon. It can clear the heart and drain heat, tranquilize the mind and open the orifices. It is used for treating heartache, heartburn, palpitation, palpitation, anxiety (violent heartbeat and panic), forgetfulness, insomnia, and so on. Qiemen is located in the anterior region of the forearm, 5 inches above the transverse stripe on the distal side of the palm of the wrist, between the tendon of the palmaris longus and the tendon of the flexor carpi radialis. It can calm the heart and tranquilize the mind. It is mainly used for treating acute heart pain, palpitations, heartburn and chest pain. Patients are advised to use the medicine under the guidance of a doctor.
