Menstrual flow does not necessarily become less with age, but if you are approaching menopause, your menstrual flow may become less. Menstrual flow refers to the amount of bleeding during menstruation, with normal menstrual bleeding ranging from 20 to 60 ml. The amount of menstrual flow is not usually associated with ageing and does not necessarily show symptoms of becoming less with age. However, if a woman is approaching menopause, her ovarian function may decline and the amount of menstrual flow may gradually decrease, which is normal. A menstrual flow of more than 80 ml is generally considered too heavy, and less than 5 ml is considered too light. Prior to menopause, the amount of menstrual flow is generally not related to advancing age. If abnormal menstrual flow occurs not close to menopause, it is recommended to consult a doctor at a regular hospital.
