It is usually necessary to implant an IOL after a patient’s silicone oil extraction. The purpose of injecting silicone oil into the patient’s eye is to promote retinal reset. If the patient’s lens has been removed during the first injection, i.e., if cataract surgery has been performed at the same time, it is usually possible to surgically implant an IOL at the same time as the silicone oil is extracted, or the patient’s vision will not be able to return to normal even if the silicone oil is removed. Before implanting an IOL, the patient needs to go through an examination to measure the specific degree of the IOL that needs to be implanted inside the eye before it is implanted into the eye. It is recommended that the surgery be performed in a regular hospital.
