What’s wrong with the pain behind the left eyeball?

The causes of pain behind the left eyeball include glaucoma, uveitis, keratitis and visual fatigue.

1. Glaucoma: due to congenital or acquired causes, the aqueous humor in the eye cannot circulate, which triggers the rise of intraocular pressure, and patients manifest symptoms such as eye pain, vision loss and eye congestion.

2. Uveitis: refers to the inflammation of the uvea itself, and its causes include infectious factors, autoimmune factors, etc. It usually manifests as eyeball pain, photophobia and so on.

3. Keratitis: including bacterial keratitis, viral keratitis and fungal keratitis. Patients can usually manifest as eye congestion, photophobia, eyeball pain and vision loss.

4. Visual fatigue: fatigue is mainly caused by looking at electronic products for a long time at close range or working at close range, which can cause persistent spasm of the ciliary muscle, thus triggering eye pain, fatigue, soreness, photophobia and other sensations.

If the symptoms of pain behind the left eyeball are not relieved for a long time, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time for examination.
