How long can you live with invasive breast cancer?

The survival time of patients with invasive breast cancer is related to the stage of invasive breast cancer, treatment measures, pathology and patient’s underlying condition, etc. The exact time varies from person to person and cannot be generalized. Invasive breast cancer includes two types, among which invasive specific carcinoma is better differentiated and therefore has a better prognosis, while invasive non-specific carcinoma is less differentiated and therefore has a worse prognosis. If patients are in good health, undergo radical treatment in invasive breast cancer stage I, and are sensitive to targeted drugs, these patients usually survive for more than 5 years, or 10 or 20 years, or even longer. However, patients with stage IV invasive breast cancer have a lower 5-year survival rate, which may be only about 70%, and the survival time will be even shorter if the patient’s underlying condition is poor. Therefore, it is recommended to pay attention to health check-ups in general and when invasive breast cancer is detected, it should be treated actively under the guidance of a breast surgeon as early as possible.
