Patients with rattling ankle joints commonly have the following causes: First, inflammation of the ankle joint: degenerative ankle joint osteoarthritis, or rheumatoid arthritis or rheumatoid arthritis can lead to rattling of the ankle joint during activities, and can be accompanied by joint pain, swelling and restricted activities.
