Xiao Qing Long Tang is from the sixth chapter of the “Treatise on Typhoid Fever”, Volume 3 – Discerning the pulse and symptoms of solar diseases: typhoid fever, the table is not relieved, there is watery qi under the heart, dry vomiting, fever and cough, or thirst, or diaphoresis, or choking, or urine is unfavorable, the abdomen is full, or asthma, Xiao Qing Long Tang is the mainstay.
Allergic asthma can be broadly categorized as “noma”, among the four major symptoms in children, namely, pox, fright and chancre. The digestive system is still weak, but children are growing up and have a great demand for food and nutrition, so they are prone to dietary stagnation. The stagnant diet causes the stomach to lose its harmony and descend, and the qi can rise but not fall. In addition, the easily transmissible and changeable characteristics of children’s illnesses further affect the elevation of lung qi, resulting in cough, coughing, croup and asthma. Xiao Qing Long Tang combined with Er Chen Tang on the one hand promotes the lung qi and on the other hand regulates the spleen and stomach, relieving both the surface and the interior, with definite effects.
Paeonia lactiflora and licorice soup for lumbago
Patient Ge Moumou, female, 53 years old, came to the clinic on January 30, 2013, complaining of lumbar and leg pain for several months, CT examination showed lumbar spine L3~L4, L4~L5, L5~S1 dilatation, the patient now has lumbar pain, involving pain in the right leg, food and nourishment are possible, the second stool is regulated, sleep is peaceful, there is no vicious cold and fever, the tongue is light red with a thin white moist coating, the pulse is floating and string, the ruler is slightly weak.
This is a Sun-Shaoyin syndromic disease, treated with Paeonia lactiflora and Glycyrrhiza glabra soup.
Prescription: 15g of fried white peony, 15g of fried red peony, 30g of roasted licorice, 10g of Chinese peppercorn, 20g of angelica, 10g of Sichuan pepper, 10g of deer horn, 10g of turtle worms, 10g of lutong, 10g of douhu, 10g of Chuanniugen. 1 dose per day, decocted twice in two warm doses, with massage once a day, this formula even into 18 doses, back and leg pain if lost, said healed.
According to Paeonia lactiflora and licorice soup has the effect of harmonizing the liver and spleen, relieving urgency and pain, and is effective in treating typhoid fever and yin, loss of moistening of tendons and veins, contracture of legs and feet, and pain in the abdomen.
The author has published an article in this newspaper on February 10, 2012, summarizing several cases of lumbar disc herniation treated with Ephedra with seeds and fine spice soup, which is quite similar to this case, but this case does not have obvious evidence of epiphyllum and epiphyllum pulse, so it is treated with Paeonia lactiflora and licorice soup instead, together with once a day massage, combining internal and external effects, with definite efficacy.
Xiao Jian Zhong Tang for treating deafness
Patient Wang, female, 63 years old, with Yang deficiency constitution. On November 3, 2011, she reported that she was afraid to make a sound when she got up early in the morning, and when she coughed and talked a little, she felt a sound like thunder in her brain, and her residual hearing was almost completely lost, and she could not hear any sound. The tongue is light red with a light white coating and the pulse is floating and weak.
This is a solar disease with Yang deficiency and cold offending the head. Xiao Jian Zhong Tang with Radix et Rhizoma Polygonati is used to treat this case.
Prescription: 9 grams of cinnamon stick, 6 grams of fried white peony, 6 grams of roasted licorice, 5 slices of ginger, 12 jujubes, 3 grams of Radix et Rhizoma Polygonati, brown sugar (because there was no syrup for a while to use brown sugar to save the emergency), decoction served immediately, and at the same time moxibustion with a moxa stick on the top of his head Baihui point. A dose of the first decoction taken less than 30 minutes, immediately feel clear-headed, hearing gradually returned to normal (the usual level of hearing), the above even take 3 doses, cured.
According to Xiao Jianzhong Tang from the “treatise on typhoid fever” to identify the sun disease pulse evidence and treatment formula, this formula for Gui Zhi Tang times peony plus gum syrup composition. In this formula, syrup is used to warm the middle and nourish the deficiency, harmonize the lining and slow down the urgency; Gui Zhi warms Yang and disperses cold; Paeonia lactiflora harmonizes Ying and benefits Yin; roasted licorice regulates the middle and benefits Qi. The combined use of all the herbs together can warm the middle energy, calm the yin and yang, and harmonize the Ying and Wei. Xiao Jianzhong Tang is a representative formula for warming the middle and dispelling cold. The Explanation of Zheng Qin’an Medical Book has a cloud: the head is the head of all the yang, and the yang energy alone is strong, so it can resist cold. Now it is not resistant to cold, is also Yang deficiency. We use Xiaojianzhong Tang with Radix et Rhizoma to warm its yang, and moxibustion at the top of Baihui point to help the clear yang rise, the clear yang will rise, then leave the light when the sky, the yin haze is dispersed.

According to the pathogenesis of chest paralysis, the author believes that the deficiency of heart and kidney yang in the multifactor body is unable to promote the normal operation of blood, and the blood runs slowly, and the waste material cannot be transported and transformed in time, and accumulates in the blood vessel wall, and over the years, the blood vessel wall becomes thicker and further obstructs the blood flow. The accumulation in the coronary arteries makes coronary artery atherosclerosis, which is called coronary heart disease in Western medicine. Chinese medicine treatment must support the righteous and expel the evil at the same time, and the medicine must reach a certain dosage to play a corresponding role.
It is based on the formula of “Four Inversions of the Heart” in the “Treatise on Typhoid Fever”. It is made by combining “Four Inversions of the Heart” with “Ginseng and Longmu” and “Zhang Xichun’s Lai Fu Tang”, but with the use of “Radix et Rhizoma” and “Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum” and “Musk” (the effect cannot be obtained without reuse). In this formula, Si Wei Tang is the main formula for Sanyin disease, which is highly effective in treating heart failure. The patient with chest paralysis has a complicated condition, not only the Yang energy is weakened, but also the Yin energy is depleted, so ginseng is added to make Si Wei Tang with ginseng, which greatly replenishes the vital energy, nourishes Yin and Yang, and benefits Qi and generates fluid. Then combined with Zhang Xichun’s Lai Fu Tang to nourish the vital energy, support the righteousness and consolidate the detachment, invigorate blood circulation and resolve blood stasis, especially the dogwood meat, “better than ginseng, art and astragalus to save the detachment. The nature of cornelian meat is not only for the liver. It is also a good source of energy for the body’s yin and yang, which are not solid and will be dispersed, can be converged, just astringent, but also smooth nature, so and open the nine orifices. The blood vessels are circulated. It converges the right qi but not the evil qi”. Throughout the entire formula, there is support and growth, collection and astringency, which can not only save the dying Yang, but also save the violent Yin. It is really an ideal formula to save chest paralysis. (Zhang Yingjun)
