What should I do if my child has diarrhea?

After 18 years as a doctor, whenever a friend or a patient’s parents anxiously approached me with a long description, I asked: Did you check the stool? Often, I get a negative answer. Therefore, when a child has diarrhea, do not rush first, do the following things: 1, immediately use clean mineral water or glass bottles to collect dilute stool, to the nearby hospital laboratory; 2, estimate the amount of stool discharged each time, record; 3, record all the number and amount of stool for 24 hours, you can 500ml mineral water bottle volume for estimation, such as a bottle or one-third bottle volume. 4, pay attention to whether there is indigestible food in the stool, mucus, whether there is blood. Note whether there is mucus or blood (if so, note whether the color is dark red or bright red). 5. Note whether the child has abdominal pain when he/she has diarrhea, whether there is vomiting, whether there are tears when crying, and whether he/she is willing to drink water. When these conditions occur, please take your child to the doctor quickly.
