Sweating due to deficiency of spleen and lung qi can be treated by taking Yu Ping Feng San or Ginseng Ling Bai Zhu San. Spleen and lung qi deficiency is mostly caused by coughing and wheezing due to prolonged illness, which depletes lung qi. Clinically, it is common to see loss of appetite, abdominal distension and diarrhea, prolonged coughing, shortness of breath and asthma, fatigue, edema, and spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the daytime, which is aggravated by a little bit of movement), and so on. The patient’s involuntary sweating, especially during exercise, is called spontaneous sweating. Yupingfeng San has the effect of benefiting qi and consolidating the surface to stop sweating (stopping sweating by consolidating the surface of the muscle), and is often used in the treatment of spontaneous sweating caused by a deficiency of the surface, bad wind, and susceptibility to wind caused by the couper’s tissue not being consolidated (which means that the skin is unable to consolidate the perspiration, and sweating abnormally on the surface of the body), and so on. It should not be used for those who suffer from external spontaneous sweating and night sweating (sweating at night while sleeping) due to yin deficiency. Ginseng Ling Bai Zhu San has the effect of tonifying the spleen and stomach and benefiting the lung qi, and is often used clinically for treating loss of appetite, loose stools, shortness of breath, cough, fatigue and spontaneous sweating caused by weakness of the spleen and stomach. It is not recommended for those who do not have smooth bowel movements and have a feeling of falling in the anus. It is recommended that patients in need of timely medical treatment, under the guidance of the doctor’s diagnosis and treatment.
