Wind-heat cold can be treated with moxibustion at Fengchi, Da Shi, Qu Chi and Waiguan.
Patients with wind-heat cold manifest as fever, a slight aversion to wind-cold, or sweating, headache, nasal congestion and snot, coughing up yellowish phlegm, dry mouth and wanting to drink, and inflammation and redness and pain in the throat. Treatment is based on evacuating wind-heat and purging lung qi.
Fengchi evacuates wind-heat, Quchi clears heat and relieves surface, Daxi clears heat and disperses wind, and is used together with the external gate of the triple jiao of the hand shaoyang, in order to evacuate high heat and relieve headache and redness of the eyes. For sore throat, add Shaoshang to clear heat and benefit the throat. For cough, add Shakuzawa and Tiantu to dispel phlegm and relieve cough. For headache, add Yintang and Sun to dispel evil and relieve pain. Moxibustion for 3-5 minutes per point, 1-2 times a day.
Patients with wind-heat and cold can be treated with internal Chinese medicine or massage therapy to improve the therapeutic effect.
