What is orthodontic treatment

In layman’s terms, orthodontics is the straightening of crowded and misaligned teeth. As orthodontists, our orthodontic goals are aesthetics, health, function, and stability. Aesthetics means straightening disordered teeth to harmonize the patient’s facial appearance and to have a beautiful smile. Health means that orthodontic treatment provides a good physiological environment for the patient’s teeth and gums and other periodontal tissues; at the same time, it enhances the patient’s self-confidence and helps him/her maintain mental health. Function, means adjusting the patient’s poor occlusal relationship through orthodontic treatment, relieving various occlusal trauma and improving chewing function. Stability, means to keep the results of orthodontic treatment and avoid recurrence.
