What’s wrong with cold hands and feet in babies with fever?

  In general, infants and children under three years old with fever are prone to cold hands and feet, mainly due to the imperfect development of the child’s thermoregulatory center.  Because the blood in the extremities of infants and children is not as rich as the blood supply to the internal organs. Therefore, babies with fever are prone to poor peripheral circulation, causing cold hands and feet symptoms. In addition, because of the immaturity of the baby’s thermoregulatory center, when the child has a high fever, the nerve function that regulates vasodilation and contraction is disturbed, which can easily cause the baby’s fever, the vasoconstriction of the extremities, causing cold hands and feet.  There is also a situation because the ambient temperature is low, the baby’s hands are exposed more often, easy to appear cold hands and feet, can not see the fever symptoms. Therefore, if your baby has an infection, it is still necessary to take the temperature to see if your child has fever symptoms. You can’t tell if your child has a fever just by touching his or her hands and feet. You can always touch your child’s chest and back to determine if your child’s temperature is normal.  Cold hands and feet in a baby with a fever are mainly caused by physiological factors. This is a normal physiological phenomenon, there is no need to worry, and it is not related to disease.
