Uterine fibroids larger than 5cm do not necessarily require surgery, uterine fibroids larger than 5cm have surgical indications for surgical treatment, some menopausal women and not accompanied by clinical symptoms can be followed up for observation.
1. The indications for uterine fibroid surgery include:
(1) uterine fibroids cause excessive menstruation, secondary anemia, severe abdominal pain, pain during sexual intercourse or chronic abdominal pain, acute abdominal pain caused by torsion of fibroids, which must be treated surgically.
(2) Uterine fibroids of large size, compressing the bladder, rectum, ureter and so on causing corresponding symptoms.
(3) Infertility caused by submucosal fibroids, or repeated miscarriage; surgical treatment is required.
(4) Suspected degeneration of uterine fibroids, especially those with sarcomatoid changes, must be treated with surgery as early as possible.
(2) Asymptomatic fibroids, such as subplasma fibroids, especially in women who are close to menopause, can be followed up and observed even if the fibroid is more than 5 centimeters.
