Skull base fracture is a relatively common clinical fracture, and most skull base fractures can heal on their own without special treatment. However, if the patient has cerebrospinal fluid leakage, care measures are as follows: 1. If the cerebrospinal fluid leakage lasts longer than one month, if the fracture is serious and the leakage is large, prolonged cerebrospinal fluid leakage will easily cause retrograde infection and must be repaired by surgery; however, remember not to use gauze or paper towels to fill in from the outside to avoid intracranial infection; 2. 2. The diet should be mainly liquid diet and keep the bowel movement smooth, including the consumption of thin rice or fruits and vegetables; because poor bowel movement will lead to the increase of intracranial pressure, which is not conducive to the healing of meninges and will also increase the intracranial pressure, increasing the amount of cerebrospinal fluid leakage and delaying the healing; therefore, a liquid diet, low-fat and high-protein diet should be the mainstay, and patients should eat more fish or meat, which can be more conducive to the recovery of the wound or cerebrospinal fluid leakage.
