It can be used to treat symptoms such as deficiency of spleen and lung qi, low food intake and tiredness, cough and asthma, deficiency of qi and blood, yellowish complexion (yellowish color without luster), palpitations (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic) and shortness of breath. Red dates have the effect of tonifying the middle and benefiting the qi (treating qi deficiency by tonifying the spleen), nourishing the blood and calming the mind (stabilizing the mind and soothing the emotions by nourishing the blood). It is often used for symptoms such as spleen deficiency with little food, weakness and loose stools (thin and unformed feces), and women’s dirty agitation (upset and depressed, feeling sad and wanting to cry for no reason). Both do not have a clear effect on opening blood vessels. It should be noted that Codonopsis pilosula should not be used with quinoa. Dampness and phlegm, stagnation, tooth disease, and worms are not suitable for the consumption of red dates.
