What is hair pulling disorder

Hair plucking disorder, also called hair plucking fetish, may be due to a lot of negative emotions in the heart, or repressed tension, anxiety problems, so it leads to impulsive plucking of their own hair, or repeatedly plucking their own hair. Before plucking, you may feel nervous, anxious, and depressed, but after plucking, you may feel relieved, and even have a sense of satisfaction and pleasure in severe cases. In the current diagnosis system, especially the ICD-10 diagnosis system, this disorder belongs to habit and impulse control disorder, but in the ICD-11 diagnosis system, hair pulling disorder is already a disorder under the obsessive-compulsive disorder system, that is, it is more likely to be considered as a compulsive behavior that occurs repeatedly. Therefore, the current treatment is likely to be more targeted to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder and anxiety. Of course, if there is a problem with hair pulling disorder, it is best to treat it psychologically, especially cognitive behavioral therapy or systematic desensitization.
