Can you pick a blister?

Whether the blisters can be broken or not needs to be decided according to the cause of the disease, small blisters caused by trauma and friction are not recommended to be broken; blisters caused by burns are not recommended to be broken, but blisters fused into a large area can be broken; blisters caused by bacterial and viral infections can’t be broken.
1. trauma friction blisters: friction caused by small blisters do not recommend that the patient self-picked, picking the blisters will lead to the exposure of subcutaneous tissue, increasing the risk of infection, as well as exacerbate the patient’s pain level. The exudate in smaller blisters can be absorbed on its own. If the blister is accidentally broken, patients can use iodophor or saline to sterilize it to prevent infection.
2. Scald blisters: if the large blisters caused by scald burns merge into pieces, and if the body has difficulty in absorbing the exudate completely, the blisters can be punctured to exclude the exudate, and the medication can be changed according to the doctor’s instructions to promote wound healing.
3. Bacterial and viral infected blisters: If the blisters are caused by infectious diseases, it is not recommended to puncture them because the exudate of the blisters may contain a large number of bacteria or viruses, and puncturing the blisters will lead to the spread of bacteria or viruses.
There are other reasons for blisters, which should be clarified by the doctor and treated under the doctor’s guidance to avoid delaying the condition and causing adverse consequences.
