How big is a stomach polyp that needs to be removed

The size of gastric polyps that need to be removed should be judged according to their size, nature and number. If the diameter of the gastric polyp reaches 5 mm, it is generally recommended to remove it to prevent the possibility of malignant changes; if the nature of the gastric polyp is known and it is found to be an adenomatous polyp, it should be removed as soon as possible regardless of its size.
1. According to the size of judgment: if the examination found that the diameter of gastric polyps more than 5 mm, can be removed under the electronic gastroscope. After resection, the gastric polyp tissue should be pathologically examined to determine its nature. If the diameter of the gastric polyp is too large, there is a possibility of gastric perforation under e-gastroscopy, and if necessary, it can be removed using surgical methods.
2. According to the nature of judgment: if the gastric polyp is inflammatory polyp, and the diameter is less than 5 mm, it can be left unresected for the time being, and the treatment can be carried out by regular observation; if the gastric polyp is adenomatous polyp, considering the possibility of its malignant transformation, it should be removed as soon as possible, regardless of its size.
If gastric polyps are found during the examination, you should go to the hospital to complete the examination, clarify the size and nature of the gastric polyps, and carry out targeted treatment under the guidance of the physician as soon as possible. The resected gastric polyps should be examined pathologically to screen for malignant lesions.
