There is no quick pain relief for pregnant women with swollen and inflamed gums because there are many causes of swollen and inflamed gums, such as wisdom teeth pericoronitis, periapical periodontitis, periodontal abscess, etc., which need to be combined with the cause of the targeted treatment, such as saline cleaning of the oral cavity, root canal treatment, incision and drainage of abscesses. However, pregnancy is a sensitive period, so be sure to ask your doctor for treatment.
1. Wisdom tooth pericoronitis: If the swelling and pain of pregnant women’s gums is caused by wisdom tooth pericoronitis, you can clean the mouth with saline during pregnancy, and then take painkillers as prescribed by the doctor, such as acetaminophen tablets, which can only relieve the pain temporarily, and you can wait until after the delivery to have your tooth extracted for treatment.
2. Periapical inflammation: Periapical inflammation is mainly treated by root canal therapy. Pregnant women can undergo root canal therapy in the fourth to sixth month of pregnancy, but it is not recommended to undergo root canal therapy in the early or late stages of pregnancy. You can take anti-inflammatory drugs and painkillers to control the condition temporarily, such as ibuprofen, azithromycin, etc., and then carry out root canal treatment after delivery.
3. Periodontal abscess: Periodontal abscess can go to the hospital, the doctor will incise and drain the abscess, and then take the relevant drugs to control the inflammation, such as cefixime, cefradine and so on.
Because pregnancy is a sensitive period, it is recommended that pregnant women do not treat themselves, need to go to the hospital in a timely manner, the use of drugs need to strictly follow the doctor’s instructions.
