Recovery after pacemaker implantation

The recovery period is different for everyone, but eventually you will start living a normal life again with only a few very minor changes. One of the reasons for having a pacemaker implanted is that it can help you enjoy a perfect life. After the wound has completely healed, you can gradually try to start your daily tasks. At home, most people do not have any restrictions on their activities. You should talk to your doctor about when you can return to work, drive, exercise or travel. You can return to your normal activities as soon as you feel comfortable with the pacemaker after the procedure. You may feel a little tired or sore at first. Therefore, take your time to adjust and resume your daily routine. After a short time, you will find that everything is going as normal. Your doctor can provide you with instructions on exercise or suggest that you start a cardiac rehabilitation program. In general: 1) do not raise your arm on the operated side for 2 weeks after implantation; 2) do not swim, play golf, tennis, or lift weights over 5 kg for the first 6 weeks; 3) normal activities can be performed after 6 weeks; 4) be careful when playing contact sports (basketball, soccer, etc.), as they may endanger your pacemaker or electrodes; 5) avoid activities that involve violent vibrations; 6) ask your doctor before lifting weights, repetitive upper body movements, or 6) Ask your doctor before performing weights, repetitive upper body exercises or any strenuous exercise.
