What is the effect of Poria Chai Hu

Poria is used to strengthen the spleen, seep dampness and promote diuresis, calm the mind and tranquilize the heart, while Chai Hu relieves depression and disperses the liver, elevates yang qi, and evacuates and reduces fever.
1. Poria can strengthen the spleen and is used in treating loose stools (thin and unformed feces), spleen deficiency and poor appetite. Often used with ginseng, licorice, atractylodes and other drugs, such as Sijunzi Tang. It can seep dampness and diuresis, used for phlegm (pathological product formed by water metabolism disorder), dizziness, palpitation, urinary edema, etc. It is often used with talc, zedoary, atractylodes, etc., such as wuling san.
It can calm the spirit and tranquilize the heart, and is used for insomnia, palpitation and restlessness of the heart, etc. It is often used with Angelica sinensis, Astragalus membranaceus, Yuanzhi, etc., such as Gui Spleen Tang. Cold and essence of slippery or qi deficiency of subsidence should not be served.
2. Chai Hu can relieve the liver and depression, used for menstrual disorders, stagnation of liver qi, distension and pain in the chest and ribs, often used in combination with Bai Shao, Xiang Fu, Ligusticum Chuanxiong, Angelica Sinensis and other drugs. It is used for treating colds and fever, and is often used in combination with Sheng Ma, Chrysanthemum, and Mint, such as Chai Ge Xie Yi Miao Tang.
It can elevate yang qi and is used in treating qi deficiency and sagging, prolapse of internal organs, uterine prolapse and prolapse of anus. It is often used in conjunction with Radix Astragali, Radix et Rhizoma Ginseng and other drugs, such as Tonic Zhong Yi Qi Tang. It is contraindicated in cases of true yin deficiency and rising liver yang.
