How to read cardiac ultrasound report form II

Most patients are very concerned and interested in the diagnostic part of the ultrasound report card, so I will give you a brief introduction of the terms that appear in the diagnostic part of the report card. 1. Large left heart, large right heart, or large whole heart. This refers to the diagnosis of heart size given by the atrial cavity size measured by ultrasound. The physician usually determines the heart size based on the absolute value of the cavity size or the ratio of the cavity size to the body surface area of the subject. 2. Mild mitral valve insufficiency, mild tricuspid valve insufficiency, mild aortic valve insufficiency, and mild pulmonary valve insufficiency. This is often seen in the diagnostic section. Generally, mild regurgitation does not have a significant impact on the structure and function of the heart, but if it occurs at the same time as cardiac enlargement, it is generally significant; in addition, significant regurgitation of the valve, such as moderate or even severe insufficiency, should be brought to attention and needs to be followed up and observed, and may even require surgery, which requires consultation with a clinician. 3, left ventricular systolic function is reduced. This is an evaluation of the left ventricular outward blood expulsion ability, which indicates that the heart pumping function is reduced, the degree of which should be referred to the left ventricular ejection fraction, 45%~55% mildly reduced, 30%~45% moderately reduced, <30% severely reduced. 4, left ventricular diastolic function is reduced. This is an evaluation of the diastolic function of the left ventricle, which is also the ability to hold blood, and can appear on some hospital reports, but at present the criteria for judging it are not as uniform as systolic function.
