Prior to the advent of silicone implants, the available materials for rhinoplasty were natural materials such as ivory. These materials were either difficult to process or could not meet clinical needs because of serious rejection. Silicone prosthesis with its unique physical and chemical properties well solved the problems of processing and rejection of rhinoplasty prosthesis, so far, silicone prosthesis rhinoplasty has become the mainstream nasal cosmetic surgery by the nasal cosmetic needs of the people, rhinoplasty surgery is also popular. Since then, bulging and other rhinoplasty materials have appeared one after another, enriching the variety of rhinoplasty materials, but also making the choice of materials has more space. However, silicone, bulging and other rhinoplasty materials are ultimately foreign substances to the human body. After implantation, they cannot become human tissue for life, but can only be tissue substitutes, which brings potential hazards to human health. One of the most serious is the long-term pressure of the prosthesis on the surrounding tissues, resulting in skin degeneration or even necrosis at the tip or back of the nose, which eventually causes the prosthesis to be exposed and has to be removed. In order to solve the problem of exposed prosthesis in the tip of the nose and other parts, especially to solve the problem of unsatisfactory cosmetic effect in the tip of the nose with simple rhinoplasty, the technique of using auricular or septal cartilage to correct the tip of the nose has gradually emerged in recent years, and the prosthesis is only used for filling the back of the nose. This has compensated to some extent for the shortcomings of purely prosthetic rhinoplasty. However, even then, the risk caused by the prosthesis is still not completely solved because of the presence of larger prostheses in the dorsum of the nose. So, any solution to the problem of potential risks of rhinoplasty with prosthesis? The only way is to use as few or no prostheses as possible in rhinoplasty and to look for effective alternative materials or techniques for prostheses. Such materials or techniques must be able to replace the prosthesis as a filling material and yet overcome the potential risks of prostheses such as silicone. Such materials or techniques have actually existed for a long time and are being utilized for our awareness.
