Does it matter if you’ve just had a blood test for zoledronic acid?

Intravenous infusion of zoledronic acid within 24 hours has an effect on blood biochemical indexes (blood calcium, blood phosphorus, blood creatinine) and bone transformation markers (β-collagen degradation products) levels. Zoledronic acid belongs to the third generation of bisphosphonates, which can inhibit osteoclast activity, and some patients can experience blood calcium lower than the normal range, blood phosphorus lower, and blood creatinine level higher within 24 hours after intravenous infusion. Zoledronic acid is mainly excreted through the kidneys and released into the bone tissue into the systemic circulation, therefore, it has no effect on other blood indicators. It should be noted that patients should follow the doctor’s instructions to monitor biochemical indicators such as serum creatinine, serum calcium and serum phosphorus after zoledronic acid infusion.
