What is the reason for the stiff claw-shaped hands when crying

Stiff claw-shaped hands while crying are caused by hyperventilation syndrome or hysterical episodes. Usually after very emotional, anxiety, and stress will lead to over-frequent breathing, excessive carbon dioxide excretion from the body, resulting in a decrease in carbon dioxide concentration, and a series of hemodynamic and chemical changes, and in severe cases, respiratory alkalosis. The main manifestations will be panic, chest tightness, pallor, sometimes tonic hand and foot spasms, and even weakness and general numbness, or hysterical convulsions can occur. The general treatment is to ask the patient to slow down the breathing rate, divert the patient’s attention, give the patient psychological comfort as well as hints, so that slowly the patient’s breathing reaches normal and will gradually relieve these symptoms.
