Recently, our hospital completed the first knee arthroscopic reconstruction of anterior and posterior cruciate ligament autologous N cord tendon, the successful development of this technology is a major breakthrough in our hospital joint surgery, marking a new level of our hospital sports injury arthroscopic technology. The patient, Li*mei, had a knee injury caused by an accident at work. After the injury, the knee joint was swollen and painful, and the movement was limited, and after MRI examination, it was considered to be a ruptured anterior and posterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament injury of the knee joint. After admission, Dr. Li Bei performed a professional and detailed physical examination and decided to perform anterior and posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using knee arthroscopy after analyzing and discussing the MRI results. The simultaneous reconstruction of the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments is a complex operation, which requires a high level of microscopic anatomy and technique, and requires precise intraoperative positioning, as a slight deviation may cause graft failure and even affect the basic function of the knee. After careful preoperative preparation, a treatment team consisting of Dr. Li Bei and Dr. Yang Kang Sheng from the Department of Orthopedic Surgery (Joint Surgery), with the support of the Director of the Department, Mr. Guangpeng Au, the Deputy Director, Mr. Xiao Jun, and multiple departments, performed an arthroscopic anterior and posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, as well as a revision of the damaged meniscus. The operation was completed in nearly 90 minutes with the cooperation of medical and nursing staffs, and the patient started rehabilitation exercises on the day after the operation. Since last October, we have performed nearly 30 arthroscopic surgeries, including: anterior and posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, anterior cruciate inferior stop avulsion fracture repair, meniscal suture and repair, knee free body removal, knee synovial crease removal, knee osteoarthritis cleanup, ankle synovectomy and anterior talofibular ligament repair, etc. Dr. Li Bei was also successfully elected as a member of Guangdong Sports Medicine Association with the support of the hospital leadership. The success of this operation not only reflects the high skill and determination of the joint surgery team to challenge the difficulty, but also marks a substantial breakthrough in arthroscopic technology in our hospital, and will also play a more active role in the rehabilitation and economic savings of patients with joint diseases and sports injuries in the region. (The so-called ligament reconstruction is to redo an anterior or posterior cruciate ligament to replace the patient’s original ligament. Ligament substitutes include autologous tendon, allograft tendon, artificial ligament, bone-tendon-bone, and tendon-bone. (Autologous tendons are taken from less functionally important tendons in the patient’s body, and the prevailing opinion in the industry is that autologous tendon reconstruction is the least damaging and most effective for the patient’s knee joint.)
