The process of iodine 131 treatment for hyperthyroidism is generally divided into three steps: iodine absorption test, thyroid imaging and treatment. Iodine 131 treatment is an important treatment for hyperthyroidism, which is designed to treat hyperthyroidism by destroying thyroid tissue and reducing the production of thyroid hormones. The process of iodine 131 treatment usually involves oral iodine 131 on an empty stomach for an iodine uptake test, which first evaluates whether or not the lesion is taking up iodine; then oral iodine 131 on an empty stomach for a thyroid imaging; and finally, the treatment of hyperthyroidism. Complications of iodine 131 treatment include radiation thyroiditis, inducing thyroid crisis, and causing hypothyroidism. Special attention should be paid to the fact that taking iodine 131 should be avoided for at least one week, and women of childbearing age should avoid pregnancy for six months. Iodine 131 treatment should be carried out under the guidance of a doctor, do not take on your own.
