On the road to parenting, we never lack love. But have you ever thought, if you “love the wrong” or “love too much”, what will happen to your baby? Doctors say: more than 50% of children with mild clinical developmental delays are caused by overprotective adults. For example, the following …… 0-3 months: adults love it too much, the baby can not hold up his head! So, if you find that when a 3 or 4 month old baby is held vertically, the little neck is still soft and does not have the strength to support its little head; or when lying on its back, the little head lifts up for a few seconds, wobbles, and soon loses the strength to go down, it is a sign of mild developmental delay. The correct approach: between 1 and 3 months, you can give your baby a proper vertical hold and prone training every day, to help the development of vestibular sensation. The training time should not be too long, 1-2 minutes each time at the beginning, and then gradually extended, the number of times depends on the baby’s mental condition. If the baby is still unable to lift his head at 4 months of age, he should see a health care provider. 3-6 months: If you don’t show your baby’s hands for a long time, your baby’s hands won’t grab! Especially babies born in autumn and winter, the weather is cold, adults are worried about the baby cold, as soon as the baby was born from morning to night to wear gloves; or the whole wrapped up like a dumpling, difficult to move. For a long time, the exercise of the baby’s grip ability is very unfavorable. Generally speaking, babies start to grasp their own hands consciously at 2-3 months and try to touch things in front of them. Wearing gloves for long periods of time affects the baby’s ability to grasp each other’s hands, causing a significant lag in fine motor skills. The right approach: try to take off your baby’s gloves when you are indoors, and often use toys to attract your baby to grasp and train his two-handed skills. 6-8 months: Parents worry too much, baby can’t crawl! It is a general rule of development for every baby that he or she can crawl before learning to walk. But some babies can’t crawl and already learn to walk. This is often caused by parents worrying that their baby will crawl around and bump into the edges, or worrying that their baby will crawl in bed and fall off, so they are always watching over them, resulting in a lack of crawling. The right approach: what we need to do is not to restrict the baby to crawl, but to create a safe crawling environment. 8-9 months: parents are too strict, the baby’s fine motor does not pass! The exercise of baby’s fine motor requires the use of thumb and index finger, only these two fingers can be aligned to hold tiny objects, which has an important role in brain development. But some parents are worried about their babies putting small items in their mouths, often putting these things out of reach of the baby; once the baby touches the thing, a snatch away! This way the baby is 8 or 9 months old, and the thumb and index finger are still not accurately aligned. In order to prevent the baby from accidentally eating foreign objects and do not allow him to grasp small items, the result is delayed fine motor exercise, is really to pick up the sesame seeds lost watermelon. The right approach: when the baby is exercising fine motor, do a good job of watching; when no one is watching, then take away the small items. Not in the name of love ” hinder the growth ” of course, not to love the child ” pull the seedlings to help “. Because development is a continuous process. The child from the large motor development, he will first lie on his back in bed to raise his head, raise his head after he will gradually turn over, will sit, will crawl, will stand, will walk, will run. If he is late to start lying on his back, late to lift his head, late to sit, late to stand, and naturally late to walk. So, what we focus on, should not be which point he must be able to sit and stand and walk, but the previous movements if not done well, quickly let him develop the previous movements, give him more opportunities to learn the previous movements. If the previous movements will be first stand up, think it is not good, we consider the problem of posture, or muscle tone, or the problem of neurological development. Therefore, if the child’s development is delayed as described above, or if the parents are really unsure, they should find a pediatrician to help assess whether the child’s development is abnormal; if it is just lagging behind, we can slowly improve it; if it is poor neurological development, we can also intervene early to promote treatment.
