Is it possible to have fibroids without surgery?

There are benign and malignant fibroids. The decision to remove fibroids is based on the size of the fibroids and whether they are affecting the body. Fibroids are the most common type of tumor in the female reproductive system. They are benign tumors consisting of smooth muscle and connective tissue. The local hypersensitivity of the fibroid tissue to estrogen is an important factor in the development of fibroids. Most of them are asymptomatic and are only detected during physical examination. Treatment should be based on the patient’s age, symptoms and fertility requirements, as well as the type, size and number of fibroids. Asymptomatic fibroids generally do not require treatment, especially in near-menopausal women. If the fibroids are small and there are no symptoms of increased menstrual flow and abdominal pain, or other discomfort that affects life, they can be left untreated and only require regular ultrasound to observe changes in the fibroids; usually, when the fibroids are larger than five centimeters, myomectomy needs to be considered. However, fibroids are prone to recurrence. It is also important to have regular follow-ups after surgery. Hysterectomy may be performed for those who do not retain their reproductive function or for those with multiple fibroids that are suspected to be malignant. In conclusion, uterine fibroids are very common, there is no need to be too nervous, scientific treatment, follow the doctor’s advice, the right treatment.
