Peptic ulcers are categorized as duodenal ulcers and gastric ulcers; frosty ulcers are a type of duodenal ulcer, a gastroscopic diagnosis of duodenal ulcers, which are more superficial ulcers. Frosted ulcers are characterized on gastroscopy by a relatively shallow ulcer surface with frosted changes, and because of the shallow surface of frosted ulcers, the chances of bleeding and perforation are lower. Cancer is also rare in frostbite ulcers compared to other ulcers with deeper lesions. The treatment of pemphigus ulcers is the same as that of peptic ulcers, with aggressive eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection, if present. The course of treatment is 4 to 6 weeks, with repeat gastroscopy and carbon 14 blow test one month after completion of treatment. Treatment should be carried out under the supervision of a physician.
