What is the average viral hepatitis transaminase

Depending on the type of viral hepatitis, the aminotransferase value may be normal or mildly elevated, or elevated to 20~50 times or even 100 times the upper limit of normal. In acute viral hepatitis, alanine aminotransferase ALT and aspartate aminotransferase AST are significantly elevated, up to 20-50 times the upper limit of normal, i.e., 800 U/L to 2000 U/L, or even 100 times, i.e., 4000 U/L, and AST/ALT<1. The transaminases of chronic viral hepatitis can be in the normal range or mildly elevated (100~200U/L) with AST/ALT<1. (The reference value of rate method at 37℃ is:ALT5~40U/L, AST8~40U/L, and AST/ALT1.15). The degree of transaminase elevation is not related to the severity of liver injury in viral hepatitis, and patients are advised to seek medical attention as early as possible to avoid delays.
