Chronic bronchitis that is prolonged and repeated can lead to lung function damage, which can develop into chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at a later stage. Therefore, for patients diagnosed with chronic bronchitis, regular pulmonary function tests should be performed, and care should be taken to avoid factors that cause acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, such as smoking and infection. In the clinical setting, depending on the patient’s condition, vaccinations can be administered to prevent further damage to lung function due to infection.
