Ten-month-old babies can talk, but with fewer words. The speed of language development is mainly related to the baby’s living environment and his/her own situation, and there are differences between individuals. Generally, the language system starts to develop at 2~3 months of age. You can tell your baby’s needs by the sound of his or her cries. 3-4 months old babies start to have a tone of voice and can pronounce words by looking at each other and babbling in conversation. At 5 to 6 months of age, babies can show tone of voice, but cannot speak. At around 10~12 months they can say simple words such as mommy, daddy, grandpa, grandma, and so on. Parents can intervene more so that the baby can show appreciation and acceptance of language and can make the baby talk more and more. Babies with delayed speech need to be seen as early as possible for a definitive diagnosis and targeted treatment.
